Levels
Preschool
In this class, young swimmers will become oriented with the water in a fun, non-threatening environment. Participants will play games and learn entry level skills, including kicking, gliding and combined stroke with support. Ages: 3-5
Level 1
In this class, swimmers will perform the fundamentals of swimming with instructor assistance. We will also give an introduction to floating on front and back, bobbing under water and combined stroke on front and back with support.
Suggested Ages: 5 and older
Level 2
This class will orient swimmers to independent swimming skills. Lessons will emphasize floating and gliding without support and performing an unsupported combined stroke on front and back. Students will also be introduced to the scissor kick and treading water. Prerequisite skills: floating and combined strokes with support on front and back.
Suggested Ages: 6 and older
Level 3
This class focuses on skill competency. Swimmers will develop coordination of front crawl with rotary breathing, back crawl, the scissor kick and receive an introduction to the dolphin kick and practice deep water work (e.g. diving and treading water). Prerequisite skills: floating on front and back for five seconds and swimming front and back crawl for 25 feet. Suggested Ages: 6 and older
Level 4
In this level, we will work on all strokes including butterfly. Participants will also perform deep-water work, including diving and treading water. Prerequisite skills: swimming front and back crawl for 15 yards each, using rotary breathing and treading water for 30 seconds.
Suggested Ages: 8 and older
Level 5
Students in this level will receive a technical review of the basic strokes already learned, as well as an introduction to flip turns and shallow dives. Prerequisite skills: feet first surface dives, treading water for 2 minutes and swimming front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke, elementary backstroke, sidestroke and butterfly for 15-25 yards each.
